Maximize the synergy

“Brno Campus Square serves as the gateway and community hub for the institutional, commercial, cultural and educational facilities that define the new Campus District of Brno. The large canopy that begins as a colorful, attractive facade facing the university evolves to become the connecting element between the new town center and the adjacent R&D office park — a single, distinctive, architectural element supplies a distinctive visual identity for center.”

The Brno Campus Square Master Plan completes the city district and creates a unique integrated business and social community that thrives on the synergy between a new R&D office park, the Masaryk University campus, and the Brno University hospital. The nexus of the community is the new retail town center — 25,000 SM, two-level open-air and enclosed shopping environment that includes a hypermarket, lifestyle and fashion tenants and a restaurant courtyard.

The project design recognizes active edges at two different levels of the project: the upper access level, as approached from the highway; and the lower street level, where the bus station and the hospital are located. Incorporating the transit infrastructure is into the project, the design engages the public and invites activity by providing ease of access to the development, either by car via the ring road, or from the heart of Brno’s city center via its transit system.
